Apple's Fingerprint-Scanner Patent

Apple has a patent filed for a technology that lets you unlock your iOS device with a new piece of hardware built-in to the device. It can also be nearly invisible when not in use.

Since Apple doesn’t usually change visible hardware in an iPhone model ending in “S” (3GS, 4S) this could be implemented in the seventh-generation iPhone, or held off until the eighth-generation. Or, like several other Apple Patents, it could just be an idea and not get implemented.
